Product Details

Kyoritsu 3132A Analogue Insulation Tester – CAT III 300V

The Kyoritsu 3132A is a small and lightweight analogue insulation and continuity tester.

With an AC voltage range of 600V, the Kyoritsu 3132A is capable of testing insulation resistances using test voltages up to 1000V.

Application:

A 1mA rated test current can be utilised at minimum resistance, as well as a 200mA measuring current on continuity testing. The 3132A features an easy to read scale, which means no confusing digital readings. Additionally, it allows you to zero out your trailing lead resistance, so you don’t need to subtract it every time you test.

The unit comes in a shock-resistant case, which is also dust and drip-proof.

Features:

  • 1mA rated test current at the minimum resistance
  • 200mA measuring current on continuity testing
  • Withstand Voltage – 3700V AC for 1 minute
  • Automatic discharge of circuit capacitance (Any charge stored in the circuit under test will be automatically discharged after testing)
  • Live circuit warning buzzer and neon lamp
  • AC voltmeter with linear, easy-to-read scale
  • Operates on AA, R6 × 6 dry batteries

Why insulation testing is necessary?

All live conductors of electrical appliances and installations must be insulated, in order to prevent electric shock hazards from inadvertent contact or fire hazards from short circuit and equipment damage. In addition, a low insulation resistance can result in a leakage current which causes a waste of energy that increases the running costs of the installation.

Insulation resistance must be checked by applying a higher voltage than the normal working voltage to ensure there is sufficient insulation.

Periodic testing is also important to ensure that insulation of installations or appliances is not deteriorating. Foreign matter and mechanical factors like wear or breakage may reduce insulation resistance, however regular tests can detect possible fault in insulation.
