Dewar Electronics Dead Tester M1130
Dead tester application:
The M1130 Dead Tester is used to check the polarity of power points (outlets) before power is connected.
Using the Dead Tester ensures that power outlets have been installed correctly and are on the correct circuit.
It is used in both domestic and commercial buildings before the power authority connects power to the premises.
The device is a compact, hand-held unit with a 3-pin plug, an LCD display (showing resistance values) and a switch to test between the active and neutral points.
The device is pictured above, but it actually comes with a number of accessories, including:
- A resistor box, which gives different resistance values for active and neutral lines for 6 independent circuits
- Cables for connecting the resistor box to the active and neutral circuits in the premises meter cabinet
- An earth cable for connecting the independent earth to the resistor box
How to use:
The Dead Tester tool is very easy to use.
First, connect the resistor box to the circuits you wish to test in the switch board. Then plug the hand-held unit into a power outlet and turn it on.
The device displays the ‘ACTIVE’ circuit resistance reading first. Press and hold the ‘NEUTRAL READING’ button to view the ‘NEUTRAL’ resistance.
When both values match the table on the front of the meter, you will know that the power point is wired correctly.
