Tiger Tails – insulating covers with a High-Visibility Yellow and Black pattern. Also referred to as Torapoli Pipes or Tarapoli Covers or Line Guards
Rating
The manufacturer tests and certifies Tiger Tails to both AS 4202 and ASTM F712. This includes a voltage rating of 650v for AS 4202 Class I and up to 14.6 kV for ASTM F712 Class 2.
Sizes
The Yellow Black Tiger Tails are available in three internal diameter sizes:
- 35mm internal diameter – 2.5m length (Balmoral Engineering part number DB35A)
- 45mm internal diameter – 2.5m length (Balmoral Engineering part number DB45A)
- 70mm internal diameter – 2m length (Balmoral Engineering part number LS70)
Features
Tigertails have a unique yellow and black striped pattern and made from Polyethylene (plastic).
Each length has a male and a female end, allowing you to interlock them and create a continuous length.
Eyelets in each bell housing allow you to cable tie them together for extra security. You can easily remove and reuse them in another location afterwards.
Applications of Tiger Tails
Tiger Tails are robust, highly visible cable covers that provide a visual warning to all people working near live overhead powerlines.
Installed by Power Utilities and Electrical Contractors (Level 2 ASP or ASP2) a tiger tail will provide temporary electrical insulation and/or mechanical protection and/or visual warning of Power Lines and Wires
They do not reduce safe approach distances or allow you to work closer to power lines.
They can also be used in many non-electrical applications, including:
- Overhead telecommunication lines
- Fence markers
- Boat oar protectors
Please note that tiger tails cannot be shipped due to their length. You can order for click ‘n collect (local pick-up) at our Prestons branch.
