Flame Resistant FR Arc Rated Clothing

Electrical utilities  throughout Australia have started to mandate that any person working on or near their electricity network  must replace cotton protective clothing with Arc Rated or Flame Resistant (FR) protective clothing, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Untreated cotton is flammable and has no flame retardant properties, which once ignited, will continue to burn. The ongoing burning of cotton clothing against the skin increases the area, depth and severity of the burn received. By contrast, arc-rated or flame resistance clothing will self-extinguish and stop burning after the arc has been extinguished, in turn reducing the injury.
